Fall is officially around the corner and I don’t think I have been more excited about a season than now. I am ready for cute and cozy sweaters, booties, and not sweating my makeup off walking from my car to the door at work. One of my favorite go-to pieces is definitely a blazer when it comes to this time of the year. This is because you can literally wear this with just about any outfit in your closet. In my opinion, it is one step up from a cardigan when it comes to outerwear. It just adds that extra edge to an outfit and ties it all together. I recently attended the Austin Woman magazine Fall launch party and conjured up this outfit from my closet for that event. I love this outfit because although I was basically completely covered up at the top, pairing the skirt with the graphic tee and blazer, it gave the outfit some dimension.
Here are a couple of pointers when shopping for a blazer. If you are looking for more of an essential basic I would stick to neutral colors (brown, grays, black, etc). If you are looking for a neutral but want something different, go with a pattern like a houndstooth or plaid. These options can still be found in neutral colors. If you already have your bases covered when it comes to your basics, go ahead and grab yourself a blazer that is a pop of red or yellow like I am wearing here 🙂
One of my top 5 favorite combos is Graphic tee + high waist skinny jeans + blazer + high heeled bootie. You honestly cannot go wrong with that and it is such a comfortable and understated sexy outfit. Another version of that could be wearing shorts instead of the skirt. I know that it will still be pretty warm for us that live down south so that would be the better option for now.
By no means do you have to follow what I am saying to a T. I am just giving you the tools with which to build your wardrobe that most efficient way possible. If you want to try a new or different pattern to add to your wardrobe, go for it! At the end of the day, I want you to be confident and happy in what you wear every day.
