This summer I have bought not one but two pairs of yellow heels in the past month. Although yellow is my favorite color I have always been cautious to not leave the house in a head-to-toe yellow ensemble lol However, I have been purchasing plenty of striped pieces so it has been pretty easy to style the yellow pumps in my current wardrobe. A colorful heel (or any style of shoe) will definitely brighten up your wardrobe and can be fun to mix it in there.
This outfit kind of came out of nowhere. I bought pants and the bodysuit for separate outfits but I was going to a fun networking event and I wanted to focus more on the lower half of my outfit. These are my first pair of culottes!! I originally bought them for work because it’s so hot in the summer and I needed some pants that were a bit flowier. The bodysuit was from the basics section of Forever21 and honestly, I need to go back and buy this in at least two more colors. The fit is perfect and I feel so comfortable in it. I like that the straps are a little bit thicker but the neckline is very flattering. The neckline is what sold me! I need to figure out how to wear a bra with it but I love the seamless look.
So I paired those two together and then for accessories I did a really pretty dangling statement earring. I thought that would go perfectly with the top because I wasn’t going to be wearing a necklace. I also picked up my trusty cream backpack from Zara that I have had for a few years now. There are a few variations of cream and off-white happening but I just embraced it:)
So let’s talk shoes! This is what this entire blog post is about anyway. The week before my birthday I ended up buying two pairs of yellow shoes. One pair of high heeled sandals from Aldo and another pair of pumps from Steve Madden. I actually had my eye on the Steve Madden Daisy’s before a got the sandals from Aldo. But since it was my birthday coming up and I had a Nordstrom note, I was like whatever and got both. I went with the Steve Madden pumps for this outfit, for no particular reason it was what I wanted to wear with that outfit.
My tip for styling a colorful shoe is to keep it simple up top. If you want your shoes to stand out, go with solid neutral colors(white, ivory, black, gray, etc), a simple stripe pattern(navy/white, gray/white/ black/white), or floral pattern that has a neutral color as a background.
If you follow me on Instagram (if not, go do it now!! Lol @thevisualaspectblog) for my birthday I wore super cute, very boho maxi dress with the yellow suede sandals I got from Aldo. it was everything I loved in one outfit and it was great! Every once and I while I will step out of my basics only mentality and want to style something different and fun. So I hope you are able to get a better understanding of how to wear your colorful shoes this season.
