How to wear a matching set

Hi! Happy Tuesday and Welcome back to TVA. Today I want to talk about a little fashion trend that I have been loving lately. That is matching sets or Co-ords as some may call it. Also, to clarify “co-ords”, is just an abbreviation of coordinating. So, if you ever see that listed while you hop online, just know that’s where you need to be in order to find those matching sets. Maybe this is a style you’ve kind of had your eye on and would like to know how to style it, this is the post for you. I am going to jump into three different ways you can wear a matching set and feel confident!

Denim on Denim

This would be the OG topic when it comes to matching sets. Otherwise known as the Canadian tuxedo. I feel like this is a more achievable look to style because you most likely have a great pair of denim on hand and a denim button-down. If I am going to put together an all-denim look then I would match the washes or go complete opposite. If the button-down is a medium wash, then the jeans will also need to be a medium wash. OR go the opposite way. Style a light wash top with dark wash jeans or vice versa. What I don’t like is when the two washes are about two shades to light or dark. It’s just a little off-putting, but that is just my preference. If you want to look snatch, keep the washes the same or go the end of the spectrum opposite.

2-Piece Set

2- piece sets were all the rage last summer and I jumped right on-board during ACL. I love the simplicity of the outfit and all you have to do is figure out what shoes you are going to wear and accessories. I would start by finding a pattern that you love and if you have trouble with that choose a mid-size to smaller size pattern. If the pattern is too overwhelming than you will most likely not wear it. The set doesn’t even have to be a pattern, it can be a favorite color that you like wearing, etc.

Two-tone Layers

I love this take on matching sets by styling two different shades of the same color. This is what I am wearing in the photos throughout this post. I see this at a softer approach to the co-ord trend and if duplicating the exact print/color is too much, than this is a great alternative. I found these amazing pleated dusty rose pleated pants from Zara. I have been wearing them a lot! I had an existing dusty rose sweater from Madewell, and this paired seamlessly in this outfit.

What is great about creating these sets you can mix and match the separates over and over with various outfits! I always love versatility in my wardrobe. Have you tried the co-ord trend? If so, let me know below!
