Hello and welcome back to the Visual Aspect! Can you believe it’s already October?! This year has been flying by, but it also has been a pretty good year:) Today on the blog we are going to talk about Fall wedding guest dress inspiration. That is a bit of a tongue twister! I honestly don’t know if there is ever an actual wedding season. People go to weddings all year round and that is why I like to cover this topic about once a season. I want you to look fresh as hell, make your ex jealous (if they’re also going to be there), and not upstage the bride at the same time. Hitting all three of these can be tough but we can make it happen.
Long Sleeve Mini Dress
This choice especially premium for when you’re at a wedding and its warmer weather during the day and then cooler at night. I like to call it the transitional weather wedding dress. There are so many styles you can go but I have my favorites here below. I would pair this dress with a pointy toe pump or a chunky platform high heel sandal.
Midi Dress
The midi dress is a wedding guest attire staple. This style can be beautiful, elegant, and timeless. I love it because you can dress up even the simplest style and it is a very comfortable look. If the dress you choose is more ornate and has a lot of pattern on it, I would go with more simple jewelry. If the dress is simpler in design, I would add more to the look by pairing it with some statement jewelry. Again, I would suggest pairing with closed-toe heels, especially if this is an evening wedding. However, if it is during the day sandals are fine. That is just my opinion though. At the end of the day do what is comfortable for you! 🙂
The Unconventional Suit
I only say unconventional because it’s not the “usual” choice for me. I hear wedding I think, “oh what dress am I going to wear?” But I have been living for a perfectly tailored suit moment and I think a fall or winter wedding is the time and place for one. My inspiration for this came from when I did a shoot for Theory last year. I know Theory can be a little pricey, so I have linked the exact suit shown and some alternatives.
So, I have a little bonus for you. I was contacted by Nicole Sweiss and she has this nifty infographic that is extremely helpful when it comes to wedding attire. In most cases, the wedding attire should be listed on the invitation. Once you see what they are requesting you to wear, pull up this little graphic to help you figure out what your outfit should be.
