Do you ever take a moment and think, “a year ago today I didn’t think I would be at this place in my life.” Whether that be a positive or a negative thing is up to you and the place that you’re in. I am big on being a self-reflective person and that thought runs through my mind regularly.
A year ago today, I remember staying up until 2 or 3 am scrambling to edit the last bit of my blog posts, make sure the site was set up correctly in WordPress, and not letting my perfectionist self, push off the launch date another week. When 12:30 pm hit and my site was live it was the best feeling ever! I just put so much time and effort towards something I never envisioned being a part of, but when the idea came to me I went for it. I thought, well that would be fun. From that grew a close friendship with my blogger buddies Chelsey and Jonathan…Y’all see me with them all the time there’s a blogger event or concert:) I don’t know where I would be without them!! They have been the best support group as we each go on our own blogging adventure together.
To be honest, once I graduated college in December 2015 and started my job in January 2016 I really didn’t have any goals for myself. I had essentially made it right…I finished school, I got a job, and I moved to my dream city. So then now what? I didn’t even stop to really think and figure that out, I just started in my next chapter in life. What did I want? I needed to make friends in Austin, I wanted to start going to church again, and just enjoy my life before student loans take every bit of joy and freedom from me lol As I was scrolling through Instagram at work one day, I came across Marina De Giovanni’s workshop about starting a blog for beginners. The idea to start a blog was already in my head at this point. I had already brainstormed the name, bought the domain name and started designing website layouts that I wanted to use. I took the free workshop course, and after that was done I knew blogging was something I wanted to pursue. It is something that I enjoy and it is fun for me. I worked in retail since I was 16 and gained over 7 years of knowledge and great experiences during that time styling clients. So, the information I want to share with you all is things that I’ve been talking to clients about for years…and I do these things myself! Just go read my about me to get a better understanding.
I now have a 1, 3, and 5-year goals of where I want my blog and brand to be, and it is so exciting to have that aspect of my life again. With blogging, it feels like the sky’s the limit and you can create your brand to be what you want it to be. You can be your full authentic self because there isn’t a boss to tell you, that isn’t possible. It’s just you and trying to figure out how to make it work to make it to that next milestone. Another inspiration to me is my friend Daniela of Turquoise Collective. She was literally in Mexico this past summer enjoying an amazing vacation when the idea of starting an online boutique came to her. Feeding off of that inspiration, once she returned home to Austin she started to work to make that happen. Several months later Turquoise Collective went from an idea to a reality. I love love love surrounding myself with people like that! They have ideas and dreams and are not afraid to go after it and make it happen. She put the time, energy and effort and her brand and business are constantly growing. So, when I was thinking of who I’d like to partner with for this post, Turquoise Collective was the one! The style is super boho chic, which is completely on brand for The Visual Aspect if you couldn’t guess already haha Before she launched she told me she was going for boho chic style, I almost fell out my chair because that’s me!
To not make this too long, I just wanted to share about how this whole crazy idea came to be (at least the condensed version anyway). I am going to be sharing so much knowledge with you on wardrobing, styling, and how to make your life easier as you’re getting ready in the morning…with a boho-chic twist! I hope you stick around and also take a look around at the parts of the site.
I want to say welcome to you by sending you a special gift from Turquoise Collective that you can receive if you sign up below!
