ACL Festival 2019 Recap

It is time for the annual ACL festival recap! ACL this year felt a little different for several reasons but overall it turned out to be a great weekend with friends. I tried a new hairstyle for each day, which surprisingly turned out great! It was stressful as I had to wake up kind of early each day to complete each hairstyle and give myself enough time to not rush.  But I don’t know if I’ll be doing that again anytime soon haha Once again Chelsey, Jon, and I embarked on our 5th ACL festival and had another weekend for the books 🙂

Day 1- Friday
ACL-Festival-2019-13-1

It was probably the coldest Friday in the season of fall. It was raining AND 48F degrees….WHY?! SO that kind of messed up my cute outfit choice for the first day. I was left to pull on some skinny jeans, a sweater, a bomber jacket, and over the new boots. I never thought I would say that for an ACL weekend. So, if you are traveling to this festival from out of town, always bring an option in case it gets very cold. I saw some girl still wearing their short shorts and little crop tops, but no ma’am, not I. I basically turned into a grouchy old lady. Tame Impala saved my evening because they were the only band, I wanted to see that day. They put on a great show before we headed to Irene’s to end the night.

Day 2- Saturday

Saturday was my favorite day of the weekend! The hairstyle I created turned out great, my outfit was one of my favs, and most of all Sean came with me. I was so excited he came, and we had the best time. I was able to get an additional wristband for him to hang out in the VRBO lounge and we had a blast! The weather was still slightly cold, and the rain would drizzle here and there. But it wasn’t enough to kill the mood like on Friday. Meg thee stallion never showed up which was annoying because our whole group wanted to start the day off with her. Billie was so good as I knew she would be, and she played a few of her new songs. 21 Savage was a good time before we headed over to Childish Gambino. He set was amazing!! It was my first time watching Childish Gambino live and it was sooo good! Then it was off to Irene’s to end night 2. It was also Sean’s first time at Irene’s, so we had to go again haha

Day 3- Sunday

It was a lazy Sunday to start our last day of the festival. We didn’t really want to see anyone until 4 pm or so. We got ready and grabbed some brunch on the east side at 6th and Waller. Which is a great spot for brunch by the way. Afterward, we got to the park and started off the day at Banks. I forgot how much I loved her music until then. It had been a while since I have listened, but she was so good live. We then caught some of Kacy Musgraves and headed to Lizzo for the best performance probably of the whole festival! Lizzo was amazing! I really didn’t know too many of her songs, but I love a good performance and she gives you just that. We stopped by Robyn and Mumford and Sons before heading to Irene’s for the final night.

It was another great year full of laughs, visits to Irene’s, and good music. I would not have wanted it any other way with my friends and boyfriend! We’ll see you next year ACL!
