Spring is almost here! And with it comes the awkward stage of should a pack my winter clothes away now or leave them out. I have been wearing a lot of pants, jeans, and leggings lately because it has been so cold. It is so easy to just pull on a nice oversized sweater and boots and be on my way. Now I am ready to let my legs be free of some restrictions and wear a dress!
Right about now there will be some blog posts coming out about transitioning your wardrobe to spring. I am going to talk about transitioning to spring with dresses. If you are like me and ready to style something other than pants for once this post is for you!
Layers on Layers
The first way you can begin to incorporate your spring dresses back into your wardrobe is with layering. You can layer with a turtleneck or a round neck long sleeve tee. I would choose a fabric that is smooth and a little bit thinner. This is so it will lay flat underneath your dress and not bunch up. Start off by buying some staples colors first like black, white, or gray. Then mix it up and get creative if you like.
If your dress is more simple and is all around black, style it with a printed long sleeve to add some dimension to your outfit. And vice- versa! There are days when it still is very chilly in the morning and warms up towards the afternoon and that extra layer really helps.
Patterned Tights
I have not fully ventured into the patterned tights department but I have paired a dress with tights so let us start there. This is an easy go-to especially if that wind chill is still being extra. I have seen several examples (mostly from stalking the bloggers IG while they’re at fashion week), that the patterned tights trend is still going strong. A favorite that I have seen is when a black or navy dress is paired with a burgundy pair of opaque tights. OMG! Its so pretty:) It is definitely on my style trends to try this year.
The OTK Boots
These boots are made for walking and shielding your legs from the cold! So this last nugget of information is closely related to what I have styled on the pictures. I have been a huge fan of the over the knee boot, whether with the high heel or low heel. Side note: the Chloe Rylee boots are my dream pair of shoes at the moment. Talk about an over-the-thigh boot!
Anyway, these boots can be paired with short dresses and long dresses. When it comes to long dresses, it might feel a little weird at first to style OTK boots with it…I thought I was going full-on pilgrim vibes when I first did it. But think of it as if you are wearing tights or long socks under your dress. Once you get the right outfit together, it comes together quite nicely.
