Hello and happy Wednesday! I am so excited to be back this week and bringing you new content that you can apply to your wardrobe. Yes I know it’s the end of August and for us here in Texas the thought of wearing jeans will make you break out into a sweat. However, Autumn is right around the corner and I am so ready to start transitioning my entire closet and life into cooler weather. Today I want to talk about denim and more specifically jeans.
Jeans can definitely be a little tricky. I feel like it is the cold weather counterpart to shopping for the perfect swimsuit in the summer. It can send you down a rabbit hole of frustration and make you want to wear dresses and skirts for the rest of your life. I can relate though! I always see cute styles that I want to wear but due to me not having the body resembling a piece of cardboard, my options are limited. When I do find a pair of jeans or even an entire brand whos jeans fit me I stick to those stores and rarely stray. One of those brands is Express and that is what I will be featuring in this post.
Not only do they have a variety of denim, they just released the new Denim Perfect line. It is literally like wearing a glove and these are the jeans that I have been wearing for four days in a row lol So I am going to go through three different styles that I have in my closet and since I just went through my clothes again, I revamped my jean collection with the following pairs from Express.
The Jean Legging
It’s a denim legging and it ’s gonna hold in every little bit of your lower body! I know not everyone is a fan of the high waist. Given that I have a struggle with my waist being smaller than my butt, I need a high rise or at least a mid-rise to keep it all conceal you know what I mean? I like this style of jean to pair with a chunky sweater in the cooler weather. Also, the leg can easily fit into tall boots. This specific pair has a fun hemline so I can also wear it with pumps to show off that detail at the hem.
The Skinny Jean
I wanted to have just a go-to pair of comfortable jeans that did not have any holes in them and fit like a glove. And this brings us to the Denim perfect stretch. These jeans are AMAZING and I could literally sleep in them. They are a mid rise (because that is how low I’ll go lol) and have very slight distressing on them. So these are great to wear in a business casual setting to your everyday pair. I think it is so important to find your favorite pair of jeans because it brings another level of confidence. Then you just have to worry about the rest of your outfit. But have those go to pieces that you can quickly throw to an outfit if you are in a rush.
The Cropped Straight Leg Jean
For the past year, I have slowly begun to like straight leg jeans more and more. Honestly, this came from an outfit I saw Aimee Song wear. She had on this super cute pair of jeans from One Teaspoon (I think that is what they were). Then I was set on finding a similar pair and I did! So when I saw these online I was slightly obsessed with them. I say that because this style is 100% cotton and don’t have a lot of stretch. Aside from what the pictures show, there is a bit of a gap in the back because there is not a stretch in these jeans at all. I do like the style so much that I am going to get them taken in at the waist. So with this style, I went up to a size 2 so that they fit in the leg. Then I will get the waist altered. Having a fun pair of denim is essential to keep your wardrobe interesting!
What’s your favorite pair of jeans?
This is a great place to start if you are trying to build up a variety with your jeans. So bottom line get you a denim legging for you to pair with a looser top and tuck into your boots this fall/winter. A skinny pair that is also your favorite pair of denim you can wear every day for any occasion. Last but not least, a fun pair of denim that has some character. For me, that was the straight leg pair with the distressed hem.
