Hello and welcome back to The Visual Aspect blog! I hope you have been having a great week and have been hanging in there during this summer heat. Today I wanted to talk about casual summer date night outfit ideas! I know we are all at different stages of being in quarantine and things slowly opening back up. Whether you are having a first date over facetime or the ability to go to a restaurant, I wanted to share some cute outfit ideas, especially for summer.
How have date nights looked for me this summer
Sean and I spent a lot of our date nights doing movie nights, cooking, or having a game night. Even so at some point, we were definitely missing out on going to a restaurant or little events that would happen around Austin. We loved doing movie nights at the theaters and trying new local restaurants that popped up all over the place. We did visit a really cool art installation a few weekends back. Everyone was socially distancing themselves from each other and they only let a certain amount of people in at a time. After that, we visited a local brewery where we had dinner and tried some yummy new beers. I will share some of the local spots that we’ve been to and supported through this time. I will also share a new date night spot for you to try if you feel comfortable exploring during this time.
How should you dress for a date night during the summertime
I wanted to share a few things to keep in mind when you’re picking your outfits for date night this summer. If you’re from a climate that gets super hot during the summer like Texas you should choose breathable fabrics for your outfit. If you don’t know which fabrics are breathable, I have a whole blog post you can read about here! That post gives you the breakdown on basically every type of fabric that you can think of and whether you should wear them during the summer.
Okay, the second thing is to be comfortable with your outfit! Whether it’s your first date or 100th date with your partner, comfort is the key to confidence. Hey, I’ve been there when I really wanted to wear a certain pair of shoes and then we were walking all around downtown…yikes not fun at all. So yeah this is just your daily reminder to look cute but also be comfortable and you will automatically feel 100% more comfortable!
Let’s get into the summer date night outfits
Midi dress + Block-heel Mules+ Clutch
This is one of my favorite outfit options for summer date night outfits. I found a pretty lilac, cotton dress from H&M that a paired with my block-heeled mules, and a clutch. It’s an easy and effortless outfit for a date especially if you’re going to be outdoors. If you’ll be walking around on for the date, then switch out the heeled mules with flats or sneakers!
Mini Dress + White Sneakers+ Crossbody bag
I really love this outfit as a casual option for a date if you’re still wanting to wear a dress. White sneakers are a huge go-to all throughout the spring and summer seasons. I highly suggest investing a pair to have in your wardrobe. Anyway, paring a mini dress with white sneakers is the perfect way to make your outfit a little more casual but still put together. Throw on a crossbody handbag and you’re ready to go!
Crop Top + Linen Pants + Platform Sandals
This summer date night outfit is perfect for when you are going to a place that is a little dressier. High waisted linen pants are amazing, especially in this summer heat. Pairing that with a crop top, platform high heeled sandals, and layer on some gold jewelry, and you are all set 🙂

Tank top + High Waisted Shorts + Sandals
This is another effortless casual option to wear for a summer date night outfit. Tank tops come in many different styles from staples colors like black, white, or gray to fun patterns! Pairing a tank top with some high waisted slightly distressed shorts and some platform flat sandals to tie this look together. If you are living in a different region where it’s maybe warm during the day but gets a little bit chilly at night, here’s what you can do. Grab an oversized denim jacket or a long flowy cardigan will do the trick for a change in the weather. This goes for basically all of these looks I have shared with you.
Romper + Platform White Sneakers+ Crossbody bag
Last but not least are rompers! I know they can be a little tricky out in the field, but they are so flattering if you find the right styles for your body type. This honestly makes me want to find a romper again because I wear them frequently. Rompers go perfectly with white platform sneakers if you are wanting to go with a casual look. If you want to dress it up, pair your romper with some strappy sandals and a crossbody bag.
That’s all I have for you today! Before we wrap up this post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite spots that Sean and I recently visited for date night. And there are a few spots on there that are just my favorite right now that could also be some great potential spots. Enjoy and stay safe!
