The 3 Spring Trends to Add to Your Wardrobe

3 Spring Trends to Wear-2

What a long and dark winter we had! Now that we’re officially in a new season, it’s time to take a look at your wardrobe! With each seasonal change, it’s always a good idea to declutter your closet and re-evaluate the pieces you currently own. After you’ve completed the work of getting rid of the excess and the outdated pieces, the fun begins! This is the time to look at your closet and identify two things:

  1. What staples are you missing in your closet that will be needed year-round?
  2. Which trends would you like to incorporate for the season?

We touch on the importance of closet staples and what they are quite a bit, so today we’re focusing on the second question–the spring trends. Spring, especially early Spring, is a favorite season of mine because I feel like the weather allows for maximum creativity when it comes to styling outfits. Do you want to wear shorts? Perfect! Spring weather will let you. Are you still loving boots and jackets? Awesome! Spring has you covered. It really is the season to take advantage of your wardrobe and mix pieces from each season as the weather changes. Below, I’m sharing 3 spring trends your closet needs this season.

A Touch of Crochet

Crafty accessories like bamboo bags and crochet tops are slowly making their way to the shelves. There’s just something about spring and summer that makes you want to grab the nearest crochet bag and head to the beach. This season, the crochet trend has made its return. There are a few different ways you can add the crochet trend to your wardrobe:

  • Crochet tops
  • Crochet bags
  • Crochet hair accessories

Tops are the boldest way to incorporate the crochet trend, but it’s still fairly simple to style! The maxi dress worn in today’s post has a tightly knit crochet top that makes it super practical to wear alone, but you can always use looser crochet tops as a layering piece. Pair a nude tank with light denim shorts or linen pants and layer on a crochet top for a cute, beachy outfit. Add sandals and a straw hat for the extra mile!

Of course, you can also ease into the trend with bags and hair accessories. Starting off small with accessories is one of the best ways to give a trend a test drive. A crochet bag will add a boho, relaxed mood to any outfit and is a great option to wear as your daytime bag during the spring. Hair accessories are also on the rise, so you can knock two trends out in one by opting for a crochet headband when your hair is styled with beachy waves.

Prints, Prints, and more Prints

Regardless of where you shop, you are bound to run into an endless amount of prints. Animal prints are especially prominent this season, but they aren’t the only ones to make a statement. If you look in your closet right now and feel like you’re lacking fun prints and patterns, here are a few to try:

  • Snake Print
  • Polka Dots
  • Stripes
  • Geometric Prints
  • Florals

Prints can be intimidating, but they are surprisingly easy to style and a great way to add interest to a simple outfit. If you’re just starting out with incorporating prints in your wardrobe, your best bet is to find a “safe” print in a neutral or grayscale tone. Nude or black and white prints are versatile enough to style with bright colors on the weekend and neutral tones during the week.

Dresses and skirts are fun ways to incorporate the trend of bold and beautiful prints. They require very little styling so they are a great option for beginners. Not to mention, flowy fabrics and silhouettes add dimension and depth to prints so the outfit really comes to life.

Keep it Neutral and Earthy

The interesting thing about spring fashion is there’s a tendency to live in extremes. Neon and bold prints are everywhere, but we also have the polar opposite popping up as a major trend: neturals.

Earth tones and all white outfits are a big trend for spring, which I am always loving. Nude outfits, when structured, look smart and sophisticated. When they are flowy, nude and earth-toned outfits look bohemian and ethereal. Regardless of your style preference, there’s a clothing option out there to help you wear the trend.

One of the best ways I’ve seen the neutral trend highlighted is through Zara’s spring/summer campaign. The tones perfectly balance the desert-infused fashion often seen at festivals and style them in a way that makes it wearable for everyone. If you want to incoporate the neutral trend, try shopping the best of both worlds! Pair a flowy blouse with a structured blazer and fitted pants, or style a midi skirt with a tank top within the same earthy color palette. Earth tones blend well together, but you can also elevate a neutral look by sticking with a single color to create a monochromatic outfit.
